A DIALOGUE BETWEEN EASTERN AND WESTERN
—— Chinese and Germany Artists Group Exhibition
Western and Eastern contemporary art is interactive. To compare with other forms of art, its advantage is to transcend borders. In this exhibition, I invited three Chinese artists: Liu Gang, Wu XiaoShen, Bai Ye, and a German artist Sebastian. Heiner. Through a variety of artistic forms of art creation, it seems that their works provide a new perspective view to understand and know under different cultural background of contemporary art.

Chinese contemporary art should highlight the Chinese elements. Along with the development of Chinese contemporary art, part of the contemporary Chinese artists have the Chinese characteristic works with independent consciousness of experimental art works, which started from the original copy and reference, and then attempted to explore and try. It is inevitable and that also is eternal.

From Liu Gang’s work, we could see that mainly by a table, and then combine with the Chinese folk elements, the contemporary painting skills and the intense colors, he makes us feel that pure and fresh quietly elegant. Artist explains the massive interpretation of his life habit and attitude.
Wu XiaoShen’s works by depicting the little people around his life, with exaggerated characters, plus the symbolic scene, show us seemingly real, but more real than the real false scenes to reproduce the "real" scenario, which allows you to rethink the real society.

Bai Ye, he lives in Xian, which has the profound culture of ancient China.  In his works, you can easily see the influence by the folk paintings and regional culture. He uses the western manifestation, and expounds the meaning of Oriental connotation.

In the collision of eastern and western culture, the art creation power is the key point to attract the western artists. From 2007 to now, Sebastian.Heiner, lives and works in China. He was born in the 1960s and he is persistent in the pursuit of abstract paintings. For the German history, this generation not only mired in a brutal war in memory, but in philosophy, literature, music, which make them to restore confidence in the pursuit of spirit. To compare with Sebastian.Heiner’s former works, now they are brighter than before. His works are better to show the balance of the Oriental culture.

The above artists' works have different languages. They should tell us a different story; they pursue a different path of art; and they want to achieve the same goal. Whether they could achieve their goals or not, which depends on how intense desire they have.
